Dr. Ranoj Pegu

Hon’ble Education Minister, Government of Assam

Dr. Ranoj Pegu is the Minister of Education (Elementary, Secondary & Higher) Department, Tribal Welfare Department and Indigenous faith & Culture (Directorates of Library & Museum) in the Government of Assam. He is currently representing from 113 No. Dhemaji LAC, Assam under the banner of Political Party, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

An MBBS doctor by Education, Dr. Pegu has dedicated a large art of his life for the welfare of the people, especially indigenous and tribal people. He started off with the All Assam tribal Students Union as a student leader and voiced the concern about the tribal vociferously. He was also associated with the political organizations like United Revolutionary Movement Council of Assam, All Misings Students Union, Assam Peoples Front and Sanmilito ganashakti, Assom. He rose up the rank of Chief Executive Councilor of the Mising Autonomous Council from 2013 to 2017, when he subsequently became the MLA from Dhemaji LAC.

In parallel to his Political responsibilities, he is nature lover to the core and an amateur photographer. His social activities includes: (i) Promotion of different means of livelihood like Handloom, Fishery, Livestock, alternative agriculture in flood affected area (ii) Social mobilization for economic development and (iii) Improvement of Health and Education. He has special interest on Conservation of Nature and Cheritable activities for children.

His work ethics, sincerity and zero tolerance on corruption makes him stand apart from others.
